A Georgia mayor has banned a local production of Rocky Horror Picture Show. A theatre company in Carrollton, Georgia was set to perform the show until a rehearsal video posted on Facebook revealed dance moves deemed risque. Shocked by the video, Mayor Wayne Garner decided to shut down the show, even though organisers planned to restrict the audience to adults.
Perhaps Mayor Garner would be happier with the censored Glee take on the film:

This seems like an infringement of rights. That’s pretty ridiculous. Does the mayor not know that myriads shadowcasts and movie showings of the RHPS happen all over the US every year?

Thanks to an outpour of public support the show that was once banned will be produced at the Townsend Center for Performing arts on the campus of the University of West Georgia, in Carrollton, Georgia. JusticeForRocky, LLC, and Executive Producer James J. Hopkins, are proud to announce show dates for its production of Richard O’Brien’s “The Rocky Horror Show” of February 2, 3, and 4th at 7:30 along with a Sunday matinee on the 5th at 3:00. Tickets go on sale December 1, 2011. This would make a great Christmas gift for anyone over the age of 18!
